Texas Word'em
We’ve pushed v0 of Texas Word’em to our Discord community! Join the server to get the link!
Texas Word’em is our new poker-inspired and Texas-infused word game. Combine the letters in your hand with the letters dealt to the table to spell words and score points. Rack up bonus points for special combinations, especially if you play Texas-themed words. Everything is bigger in Texas, even word scores!
We’re still polishing Word’em - we’ve got improvements coming for the visuals, presentation, clarity, and game feel - but we’re hungry for your input on the core rules and mechanics, especially before we’ve layered on the polish.
Dictionary feedback is also welcome! If you’ve got a word we think we should include or should give bonuses for because it’s particularly Texas-y, let us know!
Likewise, if you see something that shouldn’t be in there (e.g. vulgarity, which we’d like to minimize so that it’s fun to share results) let us know that too! We’ve done a first pass, but it turns out the English language is large!
2weeks.games
We’ve made a big update to our website, 2weeks.games! You can now play all the games directly on the site, with improvements like fullscreen support on desktop and mobile.
We’ve got a lot of additional features coming to the site soon. With all the games hosted in one place, we’re more easily able to add features that cross over between all of them. Look forward to more soon, and we’d love your feedback in the Discord!
Behind the scenes
We ship a lot of games, and frequently! Increasingly, we want to host those games in a variety of places - on our own site, on other web portals, on platforms like Discord, etc.
Each platform has its own distribution tools, different assets they need for things like thumbnails and descriptions, different review processes, etc.
This is a lot to manage! It doesn’t feel like a crazy amount when you’re doing things incrementally, but when you’re putting out a new release and setting up all of the submissions on every portal, it’s a ton of work that takes time away from making games.
Under the hood, the new website includes a new developer backend where we upload new builds of our games. They can then get distributed from there to our site or any of the other portals we distribute games to.
It needs some further development before it’s totally turnkey for us, but once it is we’re excited about it being a useful tool for other developers as well. Reach out if you’re interested in collaborating!
